Banana Plants (Nymphoides Aquatica) are unusual in that they can be grown rooted or as floating plants. They prefer a bright light and a tropical temperature range, but do just fine in lower light conditions. These plants have unique banana shaped roots and make great specimen plants in aquariums. They're just the right size for nano tanks and bioBowl aquariums.

The lower leaves can grow 6-18" tall and will often produce a floating lily shaped leaf at the surface. In ideal conditions Banana Plants will flower in an aquarium producing small white five-petalled flowers rising from below the leaf.
