The Pygmy Water Lily (Nymphaea stellata) is a plant native to India and Sri Lanka and is very popular for aquariums.
It does best in temperatures from 70°-85° F (22°-30° Celsius). A pH of 5-8 works for this plant but it grows best in softer water closer to a pH of 5. The color of the leaves ranges from brown to red. The young leaves are arrow shaped but broaden to form an almost complete circle when they get larger. Surface leaves can get up to 12 inches in diameter. Flowers can be red, blue, or yellow.
